Auburn Tigers Football vs Alabama Crimson Tide 2011 :: Photos

Well it was not that great of a game today but it was still great to be at the game at least. Another regular season has come and gone, can’t believe it. I decided today I would leave the camera at home and just go enjoy the game, but of course I didn’t leave home without my phone. I have always loved trying to do some actual photography with my cell phone over the years. It creates more of a challenge but also forces you to get creative.

All the shots in this post came from my iPhone, my favorite being the shot above when the sun was just about to go behind the west stands of the stadium. The clouds made it perfect, especially with the lights on and “Champions 2010” reflecting off the windows. It was another unforgettable season (not for the same reasons as last year), now it’s time to wait and see where Auburn ends up going for a bowl game.

No Refunds in Auburn for City Schools Fall Festival :: Friday Feet

I’m playing catchup today with some photos I took earlier in the week. My countdown clock to Uganda (we leave on Wednesday) is running faster than a normal clock it seems and I didn’t get a chance to post these Tuesday night after the festival. So, today’s Friday Feet comes from the Auburn City School Fall Festival that took place on Tuesday, but the feet shot above was just way to cute not to use for today’s post. Each year the Auburn city school system gathers at Duck Samford park in Auburn for their fall festival, and this year I was asked to take some photos of the opening band, called No Refunds. The youth have a great band and it was a lot of fun to listen to them play on Tuesday night.

Below is a shot of each of the band members from No Refunds. No that the fall festival is over we could use some actual fall weather.

Auburn Tigers Football vs Mississippi State Game 2 :: Photos

The game this week was another crazy ending that ended with a win by a last play stop that literally came within an inch or two of a Mississippi State score. For those of us who sit in the blasting sun hopefully this will be the last day game until it gets a little cooler.

Next week Auburn goes on the road and so do we. We will be watching Auburn play Clemson from Denver where we will be celebrating the birth of our second grandson. Until then, hope you enjoy some of the photos from the game today. It was a hot day to haul the camera around Jordan-Hare Stadium but I love some of the images from today. I’m always amazed that there is anything original left to produce at a football game but each game is always different. War Eagle.

Auburn Basketball Season Starts on Friday

Once again we have come to the start of another basketball season here on the Plains, except this year, we have a new coach with Tony Barbee and a brand new arena, the Auburn Arena.  Last night they played their last exhibition game against Columbus State, and while it was a great game to watch, Auburn lost with a missed tip-in at the buzzer. It could be a long season but we are still looking forward to each game coming up.  The photo of the day was taken from the game last night.  War Eagle.

Auburn Tigers Football vs South Carolina Game 3 :: Photos

Auburn vs South Carolina lived up to it’s hype, it was a great game, hard fought until the end, and Auburn came away with a strong win against a very good Gamecocks team. The game was almost an hour later than last week, and being on ESPN lasted almost 4 hours but it was great to watch another close game. Since Jordan-Hare isn’t allowing DSLR cameras into the stadium I didn’t get too many shots this game but here are a few from the tailgate area (or see them on my Flickr gallery).

Auburn Tigers Football A-Day Game Photos for 2010

So today was Auburn’s annual crazy day football game in the middle of Spring (A-day or Aday game) when everyone comes to see the new team and all that. The last few years it has been who can get more fans to a game in the middle of Spring while playing each other, Auburn or Alabama. I think this time Alabama gets the crazy award for having the most fans show up, and for ESPN to broadcast it they must get an additional crazy award themselves.

The highlight this year was not actually the football but the fact that we were able to get in to the new Basketball arena, the Auburn Arena as it is so called. This basketball season is one that many of us have been waiting for, for years, and this 2010-2011 season is set to open in a brand new $100 million (give or take) arena. Sorry the photos are so low-res, all I brought with me for some reason was my cell phone. The last photo of the construction area is still my favorite so far this year.

It was still really great to get to see the new arena in person. Can’t wait for the first basketball game.

This is a shot of the last time Auburn played Kentucky at home. As usually, every time Kentucky comes into Auburn it is a big deal, but unfortunately, our record against Kentucky isn’t very good over the past 10-15 years.

Auburn Tigers Football A-Day Game Photos for 2009

This past Saturday we went to the annual A-Day game here in Auburn.  For those unfamiliar with what we (and Bama folks) call an A-Day game, it is when between 40,000-90,000 people come to their respective stadium to see their team play each other.  More like a glorified open Spring practice, but one because it is Auburn or Alabama football is made into an event.

We here in Auburn had about 45,000 people show up (Alabama who had their game televised on ESPN had about 90,000) this year.  It was good to see the new offense throw down the field and although you really needed a PhD to understand the scoring it was fun to watch.  Here are some photos from the day including one of Deb’s sunglasses (I also love the shot of the security guards in the upper deck, what a job).

Auburn Basketball Looses a Heartbreaker to Baylor :: Photos

Auburn vs Baylor in the NIT

This was probably the toughest loss in Auburn Basketball that I have seen in person.  Down to the wire with about 8 seconds to go Reed had a chance to shoot two free throws to win the game, missed both, and Barrett came back with another chance to win with a 3-point shot and also missed. Both players had a great game, and the entire Auburn basketball season was one of the best in years, but this was a heartbreaking loss when they clawed their way back into the game and just couldn’t catch a break late to come away with the win.

No matter how this particular game ended the team played hard, they never gave up, and the senior class for the 2008-2009 Auburn basketball team will be remembered as having the 2nd winningest record in Auburn history.  This basketball team was one that many gave up on early on in the season, but they really never did give up, all season long.  It was great fun to watch the season, can’t wait to see what the 2009-2010 basketball season has in store.

Here are some photos from the game.  Great season guys, thanks for the memories.
