Happy Thanksgiving 2011 from down over here on the farm. I love the fall in the south, it is a beautiful 70*F sunny day outside (although it is supposed to be something like 24*F in a few days), and Thanksgiving pretty much always kicks off Iron Bowl weekend. If you are perhaps one of the few unfamiliar with the Iron Bowl, check out the film by ESPN called Roll Tide War Eagle. Can’t begin to list how many things I am thankful for at this point, but for one, we have Deborah at home and feeling relatively well, that trumps most other things on my list right now.
I am extremely thankful for my family, and being able to eat dinner over at my parents house today will be awesome. I took the photo of my mom and dad above this morning, but the normal traditional work is the first shot. Every year on Thanksgiving week we (generally that means my dad) mow the entire pasture for the winter.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone and War Eagle!
This is usually one of the busiest days for getting from place to place with family functions, but for us, it is normally a nice quiet day here at the house. Today was similar. I was able to take a nice bike ride and enjoy some quiet time here at our house. I do this every so often but for Christmas today I wanted to highlight some of the blogs I read that are based somewhat on or about our faith in Jesus. So are you on the list? If not, please let me know, I love to add new blogs to my feed reader and it might be I just haven’t come across your blog yet.
Some here is some Christmas link love for some of the blogs I read.

I have been reading through reviews by many of the bloggers that went to the Catalyst Conference in Atalanta last week and most are so good and so detailed that I have determined I have very little of anything intelligent to say after looking at their sites. One in particular, Brad Ruggles, has several great posts like Pay Attention To The Rule-Breakers, Call + Response, and Catalyst Live Blogging: Andy Stanley to name a few. Another fantastic blog of note is Anne Jackson’s Catalystbackstage and her personal blog, she also has a great rundown on day two, see Catalyst Day 2 Sessions and Video Wrap Up for a great list of other posts too.
Hope you enjoy a few images from the music of the afternoon on Thursday.
I have determined my job is not going to be to review any of the topics or subjects for the individual sessions, I’ll leave that up to the bloggers who know what they are doing with that, but I will continue to post a few images. Afterall, this is basically Catalyst from my point of view.
Music at Catalyst Was Almost Beyond Compare
I have been to countless concerts, live events, large and small and one thing that stood out to me was how intense the worship was while these incredible bands performed for His glory. Jon Foreman, the lead singer for Switchfoot, performed around mid-day on Thrusday and was just incredible.
For those of you wondering if that was it at far as photos go from Catalyst, hang on, I am trying to get through the edit from the 2-3 days I was in Atlanta and will post more as I can get to them. In the mean time, one really event we were able to attend while we were there was the Atlanta Bloggers Meetup, Blogger08, after the sessions were over on Thursday. About 60 bloggers met at the Leaping Leprechaun, a restaurant just about in the parking lot of the arena.
I wish I had a chance to get around to meet everyone that was there, but I spoke with several bloggers I had not met before and had a great time. Brad Ruggles was the host, you can see him in the group shot in the lower right corner. We shared a nice meal with Ryan (who posted some great pics of this dinner, see Back in the Nati…) Jennifer Schuchmann (blog) who wrote Six Prayers God Always Answers (and got one of her new books too). I also met David Daniels and another great photographer from Portland (I actually met two from Portland), Jordan Chesbrough, among many other people that night. We had even had Zac doing card tricks. Here are a few photos from the evening.
