The Weather is Here, I Wish You Were

Beach KnittingI wish you were beautiful…. Actually, the weather is wonderful. It is cooling down, finally, and we found this fabulous tent thing at the dollar store. Can I hide out here forever? Scott says no, so tomorrow it is back to the house and back to our day jobs.

When we arrived at the boat there was a pod of dolphins, about 50 to 100 individuals, there to greet us. They were chasing schools of fish toward the shore and having a feast. Fascinating! Today we are off to the Shrimp Festival in Gulf Shores. Scott loves shrimp. Me, not so much. But I did spot a corn dog vendor yesterday while we were touring the arts and crafts part of the festival, so I’m set.  I love sitting on the beach with not another person around.  The photo here is just about what it is like here right now, empty on this beach.  It is October and everyone is doing other things.

Catalina 22 a New Owner for a New Restoration Project // Sold

Our work on the clean-up of the Catalina 22 is finished. We worked hard to get her clean and fixed up enough to sell and now she has gone to a new home in Georgia. She is going to have her renovation completed there by her new owner. Hopefully we will get pictures of her when she is fully completed. There she goes…

This was one of the first sailboats we actually purchased with the idea of cleaning up the boat and selling it to a new owner.  It looked in pretty bad shape when we first purchased the boat (see How Do You De-Mast a Catalina 22) but we knew it was a good sailboat under all the grime.  We have a lot of fun getting the boat and cleaning it up and doing what we knew to do, and we didn’t do what we didn’t know how to do.  The new owner is a Catalina 22 sailboat restoration project person, so he should do wonders to bringing it back to its original condition.

Abigail Marchio’s 6th Birthday Celebrated on the Farm

Today Abigail turned 6 years old. The Marchio’s had a party for her and everyone had a super time. The party started with Christopher (or daddy as Abby calls him) grilling hot dogs for everyone.

The Grillmaster at work

There were lots of hot dogs to grill because there were lots of people, i.e. kids there. Gary and Trista Burch and their 6 children were there. They are staying at the farm with for about a week.

Martha Marchio’s 4th Birthday

Martha turned 4 years old on June 3 and we had a party at the farm. She received lots of presents and had a birthday cake with ice cream in the middle that her mom made. It was delicious! Enjoy the photos….

Can you tell she likes her presents?

She is showing off the headband Auntie Deborah made for her.

Meeting William for the First Time and Visiting the Farm

This past weekend Deborah took a trip to Alabama to meet her new grandson. He is perfect in every way, of course. After arriving in Atlanta on Friday afternoon, she made the drive to Montgomery, AL in time to have dinner with William and his parents. Here he is in his new hats she made for him.

The weekend was extremely busy and included a trip to the Marchio/Fillmer farm so they could meet him as well. The visit was wonderful, until Deborah was leaving and she accidentally backed over the Marchio’s dog Tanya. Miraculously Tanya was unhurt and the children learned a valuable lesson about being around cars that are potentially moving.

Sarah and Chris have a beautiful family. Here are some photos of the family and the farm.

William Alan Fillmer Has Arrived at 8:20pm on September 23rd 2005

Well, it is official, Scott and Deborah are grandparents. William Alan Fillmer was born to Bryan Alan Fillmer and Sara Lynn Turner on Friday, September 23rd at 8:20pm (CST). He weighed in at 8.02 lbs(3.6kgs) and measured 21 inches (53.34 centimeters). Parents and baby are all doing just great. Sara’s parents were there for the delivery and Deborah will be going to meet him for the first time next month. From the pictures we have seen he is a cute little guy, but we are biased. He has his father’s appendages and was unable to escape the Whittenberg (Deborah’s father’s) ears. Here he is:

Ballet Class

Apparently Martha’s first ballet class was marginally successful. Sarah told the teacher that Martha would either “shape up or ship out”! I think it was similar to the first day of swimming. We are giving Martha about a month of lessons to decide.

Abby loved her class and she did very well. She listened to the teacher and followed directions. She has a short ballet routine to learn; they also learned the five ballet positions. Unfortunately, I forget #3 and #4, so we have to get a book on that. Enclosed is a picture of Abby on her way to her first class.

Happy August Birthdays

We would like to wish Gabriel a happy birthday. He turned 8 back in August. We had a great party with our special guest- Aunt Debbie from Oregon. It was also Grandmommy’s birthday party and everyone had a wonderful time.

Levi’s birthday was ALSO in August and he has proven that birthday cake is his favorite food! This is the quilt Grandmommy made him for his birthday. Happy Birthday to all our August birthdays.

Blessings from the Marchios.

Colorado Scenery #2

We went to a brisket cook out yesterday and the clouds and rain swept in as they always do around 6:00pm. The brisket was fabulous and as the clouds moved out we saw this:

After dinner, Scott and I went for a drive up towards Ivy Creek campground where a bull, cow, and baby moose have been seen practicly daily. Sure enough, they were there and here is what the bull looks like:
