COX 2 inhibitor drugs have been discredited for humans (they mess up your heart, don't work much better than aspirin, and they still mess up your GI system) -- since that market is going away, now they're pushing COX 2 inhibitors for pets. We had the same problem when we got an antibiotic for our dog: something cheap like tetracycline is still >90% effective, but they'll try to push something that costs $80 on you if you don't speak out.
